Riddles

You are in prison in a foreign country. You manage to escape from your cell. You run to the end of the hall and are confronted by two doors: one leading to the street and freedom, the other leading to the executionor's chambers, and death. There are two guards by the doors, and you have time only to ask them one question before someone realizes you are not just a tourist lost in the wrong building. One of the guards will answer your question truthfully, the other one will lie to you. What is the question you will ask? Time is running out...

An explorer is in a strange land where the men
always tell the truth and the women always lie.
He meets three natives but cannot tell their sex
by their appearance or voice, so he asks them.
The first one replies, but the explorer doesn't hear
	      the answer.
The second one makes the following 3 statements:
	      1) The first person said, 'I am a man.'
	      2) The first person is a woman.
	      3) I am a man.
The third one makes these 2 statements:
	      1) The second person is a woman.
	      2) I am a man."

Which are men, and which are women?

This is an unusual paragraph. How quickly can you find out what is so uncommon about it?
It looks so ordinary that you may think nothing is odd about it until you match it
with most paragraphs this long. If you put your mind to it and study it, you will find
out, but nobody may assist you; do it without any coaching. Go to work and try
your skill at figuring it out. Par on this is about a half an hour.
Good luck - and don't blow your cool.

The man who made me doesn't want me. The man who bought
me never used me. The man who used me never knew me.
What am I?
