Known for the power and passion she brought to the dance Natalya Dudinskaya was one of Russia's most perfect and dedicated dancers on and off the stage of the Marinsky Theater. Born the daughter of a ballerina on August 21, 1912 in Kharkov, she started her dancing career at a very young age. In 1931 she became a graduate of the prestigious Vaganova Academy under the instruction of the famed Agrippina Vaganova. After experiencing a stage life of 35 years, which is unusually long for a dancer, she began teaching at the Vaganova Academy from 1964 until 2001. Some of her most popular classical ballet roles include the part of Aurora in Sleeping Beauty/I>, Kitri in Don Quixote and the principle role in the ballet Cinderella. Sadly, Natalya Dudinskaya died in January of 2003 at the age of 90.
