Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaievna Romanova was born at Peterhof Palace on June 5th, 1901, the fourth of five children to Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandra. Anastasia had fine, light-brown hair, her father's beautiful blue eyes and her mother's delicate nose. As a child, Anastasia was small and mischievous. During adolescence she put on weight, which Alexandra fretted over and hoped she would lose as she got older. This was always a source of affectionate harassment, Anastasia being the comedian of the family. Had Anastasia lived through the Russian Revolution, many people close to the fmaily believed that she would have grown up to be a true beauty ("HIH Grand Duchess Anastasia..." 1).
