In Support of Affirmative Action

The Story

The University of Michigan's admissions policy is being challenged in court, because the University uses race as one of many factors in the admissions process. Two separate cases, one against the undergraduate college and one against the law school, were heard in the Supreme Court on April 1st. Tens of thousands of people of color, students, union members, and other progressive allies stood up on this day and rallied and marched in support of Affirmative Action and the larger struggle for social justice. Multiple buses from Canton brought down members of SAGE, the Diversity Coalition, and other SLU students. Several St. Lawrence Alumni were also present at this historic march. More information on the cases can be found on the University of Michigan web site.
