On the night of his high school Prom, Martin Blank (brilliantly played by John Cusack) leaves Grosse Point, Michigan to join the Army. Eventually, Blank ends up as a free-lance assassin facing an existential mid-life crisis; eventually he decides to retire from the killing business. At his high school reunion he meets the high school sweetheart he abandoned on Prom night. Dan Akroyd is marvelous as a rival hit-man who's trying to organize a professional union.
