Which house?

My friend lives on a long street, numbered on his side 1, 2, 3, and so on. All the numbers on one side of him add up exactly the same as all the numbers on the other side of him. There are at least 50 houses on that side of the street, but not more than 500.

What's my friend's house number and how many houses are on his side of the street? What is the mathematical relationship between these 2 numbers?
