Joe, Mary, and Egbert worked at the same firm and were good friends. One was the cashier, one was the buyer, and the third was the firm's accountant (not necessarily in order of their names).

The accountant was an only child and had the highest salary. Egbert, who married Joe's sister, makes less than the buyer.
