What he does:
- Brett Santeusano is an Analyst for Deutsche Bank where he works on risk
assessment; underwriting commercial credit exposure, primarily for large
multi-family transactions. Clients include pension funds, public REITs,
regional & national developers and management companies.
Math on the job:
- Through his short 3-year career in risk assessment Brett has done a lot
of 'modeling' (IRR analysis, profit & loss projections, yield maintenance
analysis, defeasance analysis, exit strategies analysis, etc.). This work
relies heavily on his background in 'Proof Theory' and Statistics.
Brett's background:
- After graduating from St. Lawrence University with a combined major in
Mathematics and Economics and a minor Statistics, Brett was hired by Citizens
Financial Group to enter their Loan Officer Development Program, which was
a 16-month commercial credit training program. He credits his Mathematics
background as a key element of securing this competitive position. Working
at Deutsche Bank for the past eight months, he also enrolled in a Master's
program in Actuarial Science at Boston University.
Advice for students:
- Brett reports that his background in Mathematics has been most beneficial
due to an overall 'thinking approach' not to any detailed application. He
believes that a background in Mathematics and Computer Science helps you
learn a skill set that can be adapted to many different disciplines.
