Founders of the Graph Theory Day Conference

In May of 1977 the late graph theorist Frank Harary held a conference at the New York Academy of Sciences on Topics in Graph Theory.  Subsequently, under the leadership of John W. Kennedy (Queens College CUNY) and Louis V. Quintas (Pace University),  Graph Theory Day  has become a biannual tradition attracting mathematicians from all over the world to share their work in this increasingly popular discipline.  This year, Graph Theory Day Fifty was held at St. Lawrence University. There were over sixty professors and students in attendance.  The conference was sponsored jointly by the New York Academy of Sciences and by Saint Lawrence University.  The conference was hosted by Dan Gagliardi and Raluca Dragusanu (Saint Lawrence University).  The other members of the organizing committee were John W. Kennedy (Queens College CUNY), Louis V. Quintas (Pace Univ.), and William  Widulski (Westchester Community College).  Graph Theory Day Thirty Two,  held on November 2, 1996 at Manhattan College, was also hosted by Dan Gagliardi and was dedicated to the memory of Paul Erdos.
