TCP/IP Subnetting
ABSTRACT: With the use of subnetting, wide area networks (WANs) can be divided both logically and  geographically, which can result in higher efficiency levels. By using what is known as "subnet masks",  computers can determine if information on the network is destined for remote or local hosts. Messages  between two computers in the same building should stay within the building. Subnetting allows this to occur, thus reducing overall traffic. The concept behind subnetting involves simple mod 2 arithmetic and  some basic properties of the TCP/IP protocol. This talk will discuss the mathematical algorithms behind TCP/IP subnetting.
