Solar energy a solution to Global Warming
Global warming
is caused by the increase in emissions of carbon dioxide, one of the major
ways we emit carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is by using fossil fuels.
It is one of the world’s premier commodity, when we talk about fossil fuels
the topic is endless however the product it self is not endless. We must
come to recognize that there is a definite decrease in the stock of fossil
fuels and economically the prices will rise when there is a greater demand
for a product. Solar energy is the safest way to run our homes, cars and
it is the best way to take our hands off the oil supply. It will also be
beneficial in terms of money and it will place less pressure on the globe
as well.
Solar energy
is out in the market, it is cheaper and has no carbon emissions, and it
requires photovoltaic panels to run electricity anywhere we want. There
are three different types of photovoltaic cells, monocrystaline, polycrystalline,
and amorphous silicon, these panels can be placed anywhere and they will
convert sunlight into usable energy that will charge a battery. Solar
energy can also be used to heat home, passive/ active system can heat homes.
Passive solar system requires a good structure of the house. This will
include south facing windows and a thermal conversion system. Solar energy
is very convenient for homes, however I recommend having a windmill so
that you can charge your batteries when there is no sun.
Similarly with
solar homes there are solar cars that will be out in the marker in the
future. These cars have photovoltaic cells placed on them, which convert
the suns energy and allow the car to run completely on solar energy. These
cars are still being experimented and they are used in racecars. I think
they will be excellent because, today we use 60% of our fossil fuels on
cars, driving solar will cut down our carbon emissions by more than 50%,
which will lead to a cleaner environment as well.
