Barbara Tewksbury '73
Recipient of the NAGT's Neil Miner Award for 2003
and New President of AGI for 2004

As stated on the NAGT webpage "Each year the National Association of Geoscience Teachers presents the Neil Miner Award for exceptional contributions to the stimulation of interest in the earth sciences. This prestigious award was established in 1952 by the officers of NAGT in posthumous  honor of Neil A. Miner. The Award, presented each year since 1953, commemorates Neil Miner's concern for personal excellence  and effective teaching. His ideals, his notably unselfish outlook on life, and his personal philosophy inspired his fellow teachers as well as his students." Barbara Tewksbury is the 2003 recipient of this award. On November 4, 2003 Tewksbury was formally inducted to the 2004 Executive Committee as president. (AGI press release)

Barbara Tewksbury  is the Stephen Harper Kirner Chair of Science and chair of the geology department at Hamilton College in Clinton NY.
