Appointed Member to the Order of Canada

On February 20, 2007 Her Excellency the
Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada,
announced new appointments to the Order of Canada. Carol Newell,
SLU '79 was among them. According to the official web site for
the Order of Canada " The Order of Canada is the centrepiece of
Canada's Honours System and recognizes a lifetime of outstanding
achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation."
According to Carol's biography at the Renewal Partners Company's web
site (full biography linked below): In 1990 Carol was a co-founder of
the Sage Foundation that designed and produced environmental education
programs . In 1992, she founded the Endswell Foundation to
increase support for the critical work of grassroots groups who were
working to conserve British Columbia ecosystems. In 1993 in
collaboration with with Joel Solomon, Renewal Partners was
founded. Renewal Partners works with businesses "that promote an
economic vision for the province that relies on a thriving sustainable
economy."
