The United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) has
reviewed the work Dan and the students did with Youth Accord at
El Eden in 2005 and as a result have done the following.
- Will
run a feature story in their next UNEP publication on HabitatNet
- Have
invited Dan and some of his students to Montreal May 22, 2007 to
present and read the Youth Accord at the International Biodiversity Day
ceremony.
- In 2008
UNEP is meeting in Bonn, Germany to meet and update the Accord
that resulted from the Rio ant Kyoto Conferences on Biodivesity.
Dan and his students have been invited to attend to allow the students
to give their reasons for conserving biodiversity for their future. Dan
is hopeful that many of the 80 students who attended the El Eden
Youth Conference will be able to attend.

Great Success at First
Youth Summit on Biodiversity
Dan wrote to tell all about the great
success he had
in Mexico this January with the First Youth Summit on Biodiversity.
There were 73 kids from 9 nations in attendance for a two week
program. The students collaborated on a biodiversity project at
the El Eden Field Station, and present their work at their home sites
to one another in the evenings. They also drafted an accord on
Biodiveristy to be sent to the United Nations for Earth Day this April.
