Foster, B.R.  (1982).  'Education of a Bureaucrat in Sargonic Sumer'. Archiv Orientalni 50, 238-241.

Drawing from administrative archives from Girsu during the Sargonic period, the author traces the course of scribal education from writing basic signs to groups of signs chosen from lists of personal names, god names, and administrative terms. Practice administrative documents and building plans and surveys came in later phases.
