The BB&T Chair in Free Market Thought

The Economics Department invites applications for The BB&T Chair in Free Market Thought at the Associate or Full Professor level, starting August 15, 2008.  An established record of excellence in research and teaching is required. The Chair holder will be expected to produce high-quality scholarship with publications in leading economics journals, chair dissertations, and teach both undergraduate courses and graduate courses in the department’s Ph.D. program.  Applicants with a background in political economy, generally defined, will be given preference, but the field of specialization is open.  The Chair holder must be qualified to teach a new course on the moral foundations of capitalism.

RESPONSIBILITIES:            The Department of Economics at Metropolitan State College of Denver, invites applications for two full-time tenure track positions at the Assistant professor level to begin August 2008. We are seeking individuals to teach a variety of undergraduate courses, engage in professional development, advise students, and provide service to the department, business school, college and community. Teaching assignments may include online courses. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population.

QUALIFICATIONS:   Required:   Doctorate in Economics. Preferred:  Evidence of teaching excellence and a record of recent refereed publications or comparable intellectual contributions. Preference will be given to candidates with two or more of the following areas of specialization: Macroeconomics and Growth, Economic Development, Technological Change and Growth, Applied Microeconomics, and Environmental Economics with an emphasis on understanding the role of markets and property rights in protecting and enhancing environmental resources.           

RANK & SALARY:                Commensurate with education and experience.
