1980, M.S. SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY. Concentration in biochemistry and zoology. Graduate thesis program in zoology; thesis titled "The Use of Coyote (Canis latrans) Blood Proteins to Delineate Regional Populations".

1977-1980: Awarded grants for graduate study from the National Audubon Society and the College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Coordinated receipt and analysis of blood samples from the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service's facilities in Logan, Utah, and Dubois, Idaho, the University of Maine at Orono and the Canadian Ministry of Natural Resources, Maple, Ont.
