1980, M.S. SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY. Concentration in biochemistry and zoology. Graduate thesis program in zoology; thesis titled "The Use of Coyote (Canis latrans) Blood Proteins to Delineate Regional Populations".

1982, New York State Certification for secondary school teaching of Biology and Chemistry, Department of Education, Graduate Studies, St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY. Provisionally certified in Biology and General Science.

1977, B.S., St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY. Biology and chemistry concentration. Graduated cum laude with honors in biology. Recipient of the Dean Eaton Scholarship for leadership, 1974; Delta Delta Delta Scholarship for leadership, 1976; member of Beta Beta Beta biology honorary.

1977-1980: Awarded grants for graduate study from the National Audubon Society and the College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Coordinated receipt and analysis of blood samples from the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service's facilities in Logan, Utah, and Dubois, Idaho, the University of Maine at Orono and the Canadian Ministry of Natural Resources, Maple, Ont.
