Abroad Program Courses Receiving SLU Biology Credit

If you are thinking about studying away from the SLU campus, you will want to check out the site maintained by the St. Lawrence University's Center for International and Intercultural Studies.

Currently three St. Lawrence programs offer courses that receive biology credit. These programs are : Australia, Denmark, and Kenya.

Australia

Courses that have been approved for Biology credit in Australia are listed below. If you are interested in a course that is not on the list, you need to seek approval for the course from the Biology Department. Please contact Dr. Brad Baldwin with your course approval requests. Please remember that approval for your course as Biology credit is not guaranteed.

Denmark

The Science/Health course below have been approved for Biology Credit:

Marine Biology of Coastal Waters (0.83 units)

Ecology and Human Impact in the North and Baltic Seas (0.83 units)

The above courses are intended to be taken together.

Biology of Marine Mammals (0.83 units)

Marine Biological Research Project (spring semester - 1.5 units - counts as one 300-400 level course for the biology major)

This research project is a continuation of the marine biology courses and is intended for full year attendees.

Ecotoxicology Principles and Practice (0.83 units)

Ecotoxicology Lab (0.17 units)

Biophysical Basis of Ecophysiology (0.83 units)

Bio-Reaction Engineering (Can be used to fill requirement of BIOC 395 or BIOL/CHEM 415)

Human Health & Disease - A Clinical Approach (0.83 units, major credit restricted)

Energy and Element Cycling in Ecosystems (0 .83 units)

Carbon Cycling in Danish Forest and Fjord Ecosystems (0.17 units)

Metabolic Engineering and Functional Genomics (Can be used to fill requirement of BIOL/CHEM 415)

Molecular Genetics (1 unit)

Bioinformatics (1 unit) (Can be used to fill requirement of BIOC 395)

Molecular genetics and Bioinformatics may also be taken as electives for the biochemistry major. Note prerequisites when planning your course schedule.
